Hey Rico, You’ve Sure Been Talking A Lot About Politics Lately…
Yeah well this is my website and I can talk about what I want to talk about 😋
So, assuming the Democrats win the Presidency and both houses of Congress this year, here’s a few things I think they should do in their first 100 days to make things better for the country and to poke Mitch McConnell in the eye.
Rico’s Dream First 100 Days
- Senate: Vote to eliminate the filibuster and pass the House’s stimulus unchanged, then start ramming through every Democratic bill that’s been gathering dust on Mitch’s desk for the past 5 years.
- House & Senate: Assuming Puerto Rico passes their referendum on statehood, immediately bring a resolution to the floor for PR statehood and pass that sucker. Do the same for DC. You can ram it through the Senate because you’ve killed the filibuster, and now you’ve just added 4 more Democratic seats to the Senate and I can’t do the math on the House but you get those too 🙌🏾.
- House & Senate: Lay the ground work to ram through legislation to expand the court to all 160 Circuit Court judges and implement a lottery system. In the meanwhile, straight up appoint 4 new liberal judges taking the count from 6-3 to 7-6 as a fuck you to Mitch and Co until the new system is in place.
- Senate: Ram through the Voting Rights Advancement Act
- House & Senate: Ram through a law withholding federal aid unless states appoint an independent commission to draw their districts
- House & Senate: Ram through the Ranked Choice Voting Act
- House & Senate: Ram through the Raise the Wage Age and increase the federal minimum wage to $15/hr
- House & Senate: Ram through the Biden tax plan
- House & Senate: Ram through the MORE Act marijuana legalization
- Joe: Issue an omnibus executive order revoking all of Trump’s executive orders
- House & Senate & Joe: Ram through Bidencare and finally give everyone a public option.
- House & Senate: Ram through a law appropriating $27B in national democracy vouchers. That’s $100 for every adult in the US (about 270MM people)
